Expedia Group OTAs are now selling their first NDC-enabled American Airlines product bundle for North American points of sale. The NDC connection was previously available only for European points of sale.

The offering has been enabled by a new NDC direct connect between American and Expedia Group, which is American’s largest travel agency partner, the companies said Tuesday.

U.S. shoppers on Expedia Group OTAs can now book American’s Main Plus bundle, which includes a Main Cabin Extra seat along with a free checked bag. Main Cabin Extra is American’s coach cabin extra legroom product.

The Main Plus bundle will appear to the side of flight-search results.

Expedia Group OTAs that offer flight booking include Orbitz, Travelocity, Hotwire, CheapTickets, eBookers and Expedia.com.

The establishment of an American-Expedia NDC-enabled direct connect for North American markets comes after several years of direct connect capabilities between the two travel industry stalwarts in some European points of sale.

“This move is a significant milestone in the industry’s general adoption of NDC-enabled connections between suppliers and sellers, and we look forward to continuing to work with our travel partners to determine the best connectivity options,” Julie Kyse, the company’s vice president of global air partnerships, said in a prepared remark.

American is also selling the Main Plus bundle via its NDC-enabled connection with the Amadeus GDS.
